Description

Established in 1897 as "Jotunheimen Turisthotell", is a historic mountain hotel located at the eastern tip of Lake Bygdin. In the 1920s, it was renamed "Bygdin Høifjeldshotel" and has a long-standing tradition of accommodating outdoor enthusiasts. It offers a blend of historical charm and modern amenities, with some of the original rooms still available for guests, whilst the lounges retain parts of the original 1930s interior, providing a nostalgic atmosphere.
The hotel's restaurant uses local ingredients for its menu and is well known for its tasty food. Bygdin's location provides immediate access to numerous hiking trails and outdoor activities in both, summer and winter time. For those who want to relax after a hike can go to the sauna – either to the indoor sauna in the hotel or to the newly build outdoor sauna with a great view to the spectacular Jotunheimen surrounding. Guests can contact the reception to book a spot in the outdoor sauna.
